It's possible  to detect the eye cancer in children using just a smartphone flash. Nowadays we really know to ourselves we are fond of taking picture of us or our family. Typically overexposed cellphone pictures are annoying, but an Illinois mom's camera flash helped save her toddler's life.

A mother named Julie Fitzgerald took a picture of her precious little boy Avery and saw something that made her terribly nervous. In her 2-year-old son's eye, several months ago she noticed strange spots in the back of it, but she just initially thought it was nothing.

"I did not want to take the picture because I had this dreaded feeling in the pit of my stomach, and I took the picture and boom," according to her after she try to take a picture of her son with flash. "His whole pupil was just white and that's when I knew". She added.

Sadly, the photo revealed a white glow in one of his eyes, a tell-tale sign of a serious medical condition. Doctors told Julie and her husband, Patrick, that 75% of Avery's eye was covered in tumors. He was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a rare cancer that develops in the retina.

Fortunately, the early detection allowed doctors to act quickly and save Avery’s life.
