Terrifying Facts About Oarfish Getting Washed Up on Cebu, Philippines!
The oarfish is the world’s longest bony fish. It taste like gelatinous goo and their flesh is flabby and gooey according to people who have tried eating them. They eat tiny plankton and aren’t dangerous. They lack scales, which is why their skin is soft on the surface and get’s easily damaged.
Oarfish are said to forecast earthquakes, according to Japanese folklore.
It is known as the “Messenger from the Sea God’s Palace”. There could be some scientific basis to that story even if scientists don’t currently use fish behavior to predict earthquakes below the sea. Deep-sea fish living near the sea bottom are more sensitive to the movements of active faults than those near the surface of the sea.
Just a couple of days ago, two giant oarfish were seen at the shore in Cebu. Residents begin to speculate that there will be an earthquake or some calamity that will happen after these oarfish were seen.
As of now, no earthquakes or any signs of wrath of nature were recorded. Hopefully, these things have nothing to do with the famous folklore and let’s just pray that it's only a myth.
