65-Year-Old Man Marries 12-Year-Old Girl In New York Times Square!

What would you do if you saw a wedding party that has a 65-year-old groom and a 12-year-old bride? The people of New York were forced to face that very question and thanks to a social experiment held in Times Square. Designed to raise awareness on the issue of child brides all over the world, this was the pet project of YouTube star Coby Persin.

Furious New Yorkers asked pressing questions on the soon-to-be-groom, with some ever threatening violence. “This is bulls***! This is not right!” one man says. “And I’m sure if we called the cops, you would get locked up!” he added.


The legal age of marriage differs around the world and in some countries parental consent is needed. In some US states the age is as low as 12 for girls and 14 for boys. In the UK it is 16 and age is 10 in Sudan under certain religions.
